Sri Lanka Crushes Oman by 105 Runs in T20 World Cup

Colombo: Sri Lanka defeated Oman in the Twenty20 World Cup, securing their second win by a margin of 105 runs. Choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka posted a total of 225/5 in 20 overs. In response, Oman managed only 120/9.


Oman, struggling to chase the huge target, lost two wickets early. Muhammad Nadeem played a resilient innings, scoring an unbeaten 53 runs off 56 balls, while Vaseem Ali contributed 27 runs off 20 balls. Together, they added 42 runs for the team. No other Omani batsman reached double figures. For Sri Lanka, Dushmantha Chameera and Mahesh Theekshana each took two wickets.


Sri Lanka, after being sent in to bat by Oman, showed no mercy. Despite early dismissals of openers Pathum Nissanka (11 runs off 13 balls) and Kapil Mishra (8 runs off 7 balls), the middle and lower order produced big scores. Kushal Mendis was the top scorer with 61 runs off 41 balls. Pavan Ratnayake scored 60 runs from 28 balls, and captain Dasun Shanaka contributed a quickfire 50 runs from 20 balls.
