Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) will honour Kerala cricketer Sanju Samson for his crucial role in helping India secure a historic victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The felicitation will take place during the inauguration of KCA’s newly constructed state-of-the-art cricket stadium at Mullassery in Thiruvananthapuram. The event is scheduled for 6 pm on March 16, when Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, will officially dedicate the stadium to the sporting community.

Sanju, who will attend the ceremony as the chief guest, will be honoured by the KCA in the presence of the CM.

The function will be presided over by KCA President Sreejith V Nair. Ministers V. Abdurahiman, V. Sivankutty and G. R. Anil are expected to attend, along with MLAs V. Sasi and Kadakampally Surendran.

KCA President Sreejith V. Nair said Sanju’s contribution to India’s World Cup triumph has made him a major inspiration for the younger generation of athletes. He added that the new stadium is expected to provide fresh momentum for the growth of cricket in the capital city.

KCA Secretary Vinod S Kumar said that the honour for Sanju, who has brought pride to the nation, would further add significance to the stadium’s inauguration ceremony.
