Mumbai: In a dominant World Cup performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India defeated Namibia by 93 runs reinforcing their status as tournament favourites. Chasing a target of 210, Namibia were bundled out for 116 as India’s bowlers ran through the opposition.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was named Player of the Match for his impactful contributions with both bat and ball.

India’s bowling attack was on top form — Varun Chakravarthy claimed three wickets, while Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets apiece to dismantle the Namibian batting lineup. For Namibia, opener Lauren Steenkamp top-scored with 29 while co-opener Frilimk added 22.

Earlier in the day, after losing the toss and being put into bat, India posted a competitive 209/9 in their 20 overs. Half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (61) and Hardik Pandya (52) anchored the innings. Tilak Verma contributed 25 off 21, and Shivam Dube scored 23 off 16. Sanju Samson’s quickfire 22 off 8 balls, including three towering sixes, gave India strong momentum in the middle overs.

India now turn their attention to their high-profile clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. The match, to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, offers India a chance to assert further dominance at the top of the group.
