Chennai: India posted a massive total of 256 runs against Zimbabwe in their Super Eights match of the T20 Cricket World Cup, putting themselves in a commanding position to secure a semi-final spot. The team came into the game under pressure, knowing that anything less than a dominant win could hurt their chances of progressing further in the tournament.

The innings began with a familiar opening pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, following earlier fan and management calls for the combination to take charge. Sanju provided a brisk start with 24 runs off 15 balls, while Sharma went on to play a match-defining knock of 55 runs off just 30 deliveries.

The momentum continued with captain Suryakumar Yadav contributing 33 runs off 13 balls and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan adding 38 off 24 balls. Hardik Pandya played a pivotal role in accelerating the innings, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 23 balls, while number-six Tilak Verma finished with a quick-fire 44 not out from 16 deliveries to help India cross the 250-run mark.

Every batsman who came to the crease made a significant contribution, ensuring a strong platform both for the team and for fans hoping for a decisive victory. With 257 runs to chase, Zimbabwe faces a challenging task if they are to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
