Thrissur: RSS cadres unleashed a violent machete attack on Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Malorkadavu branch secretary Mithun Ajayaghosh, spreading bloodshed and terror in the area.
The attack occurred near a residential area where 32-year-old Mithun was conversing with locals. He was severely injured after being slashed on the back of the neck while attempting to flee.
The incident reportedly began around sunday (August, 31, 2025) afternoon when a group of heavily intoxicated RSS-BJP activists verbally abused and physically assaulted four people playing carrom near a temple. Among the victims were Mithun’s brother, Manish, and others.
After the initial confrontation, the attackers returned with reinforcements from Mangad, vandalized motorbikes belonging to the carrom players, and then launched a targeted attack on Mithun.
The attackers were identified as Vishnu (31), Arun (31), Rakesh (35), and Gautam alias Dadu (30). Locals immediately informed the police, leading to the arrest of three individuals at the scene, while Vishnu was taken into custody from his residence shortly after.
According to local sources and CPI(M) leaders, the same group was previously involved in a machete attack at the residence of Vettikkadav CPI(M) branch secretary Shaju, a few months ago. The group reportedly has multiple criminal cases against them, including involvement in the illegal sale of narcotics such as MDMA, and repeated assaults on CPI(M) workers.
