Kochi: CPI M leader K J Shine has announced that she will take legal action against widespread defamatory campaigns being conducted against her and her family on social media by right-wing elements. Shine, who has been active in public life since her college days, said that Kerala society began recognising her more prominently during the last parliamentary elections.
In a statement, Shine said, “I have been working in various capacities, as a political activist, public representative, and leader of teachers’ organisations. In the past few days, there has been a widespread campaign of false information and personal attacks targeting me and my life partner, intended to malign us both personally and professionally. Today, even one newspaper has carried this false right-wing propaganda.”
She added, “We will confront the petty, decayed, and cowardly politics that aims to destroy individuals politically and personally, both legally and politically. Those who spread obscene defamation against women in public life reveal the perversity of their minds. Such falsehoods shared on social media do not only inflict mental and social harm on the individual but also affect their life partners, children, relatives, friends, and colleagues.”
Shine further said, “Those behind this political bankruptcy, which tries to hide its own nakedness by stripping others, must be ready to face the consequences. I have confidence that the public and authorities will act to uphold the understanding that public life is also the right of women. No woman in public life should ever feel intimidated. Many before us have faced hardships and defamatory campaigns. We will confront this situation together and move forward.”
She added that the right-wing political forces, weakened by internal decay and unable to hold their head high before Kerala society, are attempting to defame her using her name and photographs. “I am submitting complaints with all collected evidence to the Chief Minister, State Police Chief, and State Women’s Commission against the right-wing social media handlers and media outlets who attempted to malign me,” Shine said.
