The 22nd Party Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was held in Hyderabad from April 18 to 22, 2018. The congress adopted a political resolution focusing on defeating the BJP-led central government controlled by the RSS. This must be achieved without forming a political alliance with the Congress.
The resolution emphasized strengthening the Left and secular democratic forces as an alternative to counter the BJP and its allies. It also criticized the central government’s policies and included resolutions on various people’s issues. The draft political resolution, including amendments, was presented by Prakash Karat.
The congress reelected Sitaram Yechury as the party’s General Secretary and formed a 95-member Central Committee, along with a 17-member Politburo.
