YouTuber Arrested for Obscene, Defamatory Posts Targeting Tamil Nadu CM, Ministers

Chennai: A YouTuber identified as Maridhas has been arrested for circulating obscene and defamatory content on social media targeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and a woman minister in his cabinet.
A special police team from Chennai arrived at his residence in Madurai at around 8 am on Monday and took him into custody. He was subsequently transported to Chennai, where his arrest was formally recorded.
Police said Maridhas had shared videos and posts through his YouTube channel and other social media platforms containing derogatory remarks against several ministers in the Joseph Vijay-led cabinet, including a woman member of the council of ministers. He had also made defamatory statements targeting senior functionaries of the ruling Thamizha Vetri Kazhagam party.
