Mumbai: Three suspects in the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai have been taken into custody in Kota, Rajasthan, as police investigate a link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to national media reports.

The men were reportedly caught at the railway station on Monday while travelling by train. They had earlier been spotted at Mumbai’s Andheri railway station on Sunday night. Two of the suspects are reportedly from Haryana and one from Maharashtra, NDTV reported. After the Sunday evening shooting in Juhu, they allegedly fled on a motorcycle and then by train to evade arrest.

Two of the three suspects are believed to be hired assailants, while the third is suspected of helping them escape after the attack, NDTV reported.

A joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Kota City Police nabbed the three shooters based on information provided by Mumbai Police.

According to reports, investigators believe the attackers had studied Shroff’s routine. They reportedly knew he played football at a Juhu ground on Sundays and waited around 45 minutes outside before firing as he walked back to his car. Shroff was not hit, though he sustained minor injuries, and his driver and a bystander was also hurt.

An audio clip circulating online, in which a man calling himself Anil Pandit claimed responsibility, said Shroff was targeted for continuing to work with Salman Khan, and warned others in the industry against doing the same. Mumbai Police have not confirmed the clip’s authenticity. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the attack and vowed strict action against those responsible.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Police had registered an FIR against three unidentified men for shooting and formed 15 teams to trace the gunmen. Two film industry bodies have accused authorities of leaving the industry exposed to gangsters seeking to intimidate Bollywood.
