Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Wednesday remanded three key accused in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car to police custody until October 31, as police told the court that five more people had been arrested in Haryana and Delhi, taking the total number of arrests to eight.
The three men, brought to Mumbai from Kota in Rajasthan around 3 am, were identified as Rehan alias Sukka of Sonepat in Haryana, Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and living in Mumbai, and Phool Singh of Haryana. They were produced before a magistrate court after being taken to GT Hospital for a medical check-up.
The Crime Branch sought 14 days of custody, telling the court that the weapons used in the October 18 attack had not been recovered and that the accused had destroyed two mobile phones. Police said custodial interrogation was needed to uncover the conspiracy and the motive. Defence lawyers Ajinkya Mirgal and Satyabrat Joshi opposed the plea, arguing that custody was not needed to recover weapons since the accused had already been questioned during transit remand, and claimed police had not placed all the facts before the court. After hearing both sides, the court granted 10 days.
The remand came hours after Delhi Police arrested five more people accused of arranging and transporting the weapon used in the attack. The attack, in which five to six rounds were fired at Shroff’s car in Juhu, has been claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
