Jammu: A terrorist was killed on Wednesday in an ongoing encounter between militants and joint security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, the Army said. The encounter broke out after security forces re-established contact with the hiding militants during a joint operation in the Dichhar area of the district.

In a post on X, the Army’s White Knight Corps said the contact was made as part of the continuing search and elimination operations in the region, which has witnessed several such engagements in recent days amid dense forests and difficult terrain. The operation, codenamed Trashi-I, is being carried out by troops of CIF Delta under the White Knight Corps, along with personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The exchange of fire began at around 5:45 pm, following which one terrorist was successfully neutralised, the Army said, adding that the operation was still in progress and further details would be shared later.
