Let TVK Form Government; Will Wait and Observe for Six Months, Says Stalin

Chennai: With government formation efforts in Tamil Nadu still shrouded in uncertainty, M K Stalin has clarified his party’s position. Stalin stated that the DMK would not create obstacles if Vijay-led TVK moves forward with forming the government. He added that the DMK would closely observe the new administration’s performance for the next six months.

Stalin also emphasized that he does not want Tamil Nadu to face a constitutional crisis or be pushed into another election in the near future. Speaking to The Times of India, he expressed hope that the welfare schemes introduced during his tenure would continue and that TVK would fulfill the promises made in its election manifesto.

“The free breakfast scheme for schoolchildren must continue under the new government. The monthly assistance of ₹1,000 for women heads of families should also not be discontinued. Vijay’s promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to women may be difficult to implement. At best, they may only be able to provide at least ₹1,000, similar to what we introduced,” Stalin said.

He further claimed that his government had fulfilled nearly 90 percent of the promises made in the 2021 election manifesto. Stalin added that the DMK has only made commitments in the current election that it believes are realistically achievable.
