Spreading False Propaganda with a Political Agenda: CPI(M) Condemns Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge's Remarks

New Delhi: The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) has issued a statement strongly disapproving of the provocative comments made by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge against the Chief Minister of Kerala and the secular credentials of the CPI(M). The CPI(M) accuses these leaders of making baseless statements to secure electoral gains in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, claiming that by targeting the CPI(M) instead of focusing on the BJP, the Congress is betraying its supposed stance against communal and authoritarian forces.
The CPI(M) also criticises the Congress for its leaders repeatedly deserting the party to join the BJP, highlighting examples such as the current BJP Chief Minister of Assam, who was once a prominent Congress leader, and the entire Congress leadership in Tripura aligning with the BJP in 2018 to oppose the Left Front. The statement asserts that the Congress has become a feeder organisation for the BJP, weakening its own position in the fight against communalism.
The record of Kerala’s LDF government, under its rule, the state has witnessed unprecedented development and maintained communal harmony, with no communal riots in the past ten years. This contrasts with the worst communal riot in Marad that occurred during the tenure of the UDF government, which was led by Congress. The CPI(M) also points out the hypocrisy in Congress’s stance regarding the misuse of central agencies, criticising Rahul Gandhi for calling for the arrest of opposition leaders using agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), despite Congress having previously demanded similar actions against figures like Arvind Kejriwal.
CPI(M) asserts that the people of Kerala will see through the alleged sinister agenda of both the Congress-led UDF and the BJP-led NDA, and will respond with a fitting rebuff in the upcoming elections.
