SFI Condemns Police Crackdown on Students During SFI Protest

New Delhi: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has strongly condemned the police crackdown on students during its march against the saffronisation of universities in Keralam. The organisation stated that police unleashed a brutal assault on students without any provocation during the march to the Kerala University headquarters.

SFI alleged that male police officers assaulted female students during the crackdown. SFI Central Committee member Arya Prasad and state secretariat member Vaishnavi Shaji sustained serious injuries, the organisation said.

Students had organised the protest against what SFI described as the state government’s decision to surrender the education sector, including universities, to the Sangh Parivar. The organisation alleged that the UDF government had effectively given the Sangh Parivar a free licence to infiltrate Keralam’s universities and the wider education sector.

The state government, which should be resisting the communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar, is instead acting in accordance with the BJP-RSS agenda, SFI alleged. The organisation said Keralam’s secular society would not accept such a policy.

SFI demanded a proper investigation into the police violence and called for action against those responsible.
