New Delhi: National media reports indicate that the blast near Red Fort Metro Station in New Delhi was accidental and not the result of a planned suicide bombing. Senior intelligence officials have stated that there is no circumstantial evidence suggesting the explosion was intended to cause maximum damage. Witnesses and CCTV footage show that the car, a white Hyundai i20, appeared to be in motion at the time of the blast.

Officials believe the perpetrators may have panicked and fled after a large cache of explosives was seized in Faridabad, Haryana. Preliminary investigations suggest the improvised explosive device (IED) was assembled incorrectly, further supporting the theory that the explosion was not premeditated.

The blast claimed nine lives and left around two dozen injured, with several victims yet to be identified through DNA analysis.

The key suspect has been identified as Umar Nabi, a doctor from Jammu and Kashmir. Reports indicate that Nabi switched off his phone and went underground three days before the incident, severing all communication with his family.
