Imphal: Two young children were killed in a bomb attack in Manipur's Bishnupur district in the early hours of Monday. The victims were a five-year-old boy and a six-month-old infant girl. Their mother, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, has been hospitalised.
The incident occurred at Moirang Tronglaobi in Bishnupur, when an explosive device was hurled at the family as they slept in their bedroom. The Kuki community has been named as the suspected perpetrators of the attack.
Moirang Tronglaobi is a low-lying area on the border of Churachandpur district, a region that has remained engulfed in ethnic conflict since 2023. The attack marks yet another grim episode in the prolonged communal violence that has claimed numerous lives and displaced thousands across the state over the past two years.
