Police have launched a search operation for a 24-year-old man accused of brutally attacking his former school teacher after allegedly stalking and sexually harassing her for nearly three years. The woman sustained serious injuries to her face and lips in the assault and is currently undergoing specialised treatment at a private hospital in Agra.

According to police, the incident occurred on January 20 near Jyoti Tiraha when the woman was on her way to provide tuition to a student. The accused, identified as Akhand Pratap, allegedly intercepted her and tried to force her into a nearby lane. When she resisted, he is said to have assaulted her with a sharp object before fleeing the scene as locals rushed to her aid.

Investigations revealed that the accused began harassing the woman while he was a Class 12 student at a private school on Agra Road where she taught. His repeated stalking and intimidation reportedly forced her to quit her job and move to another private institution. Despite the matter being raised with the student’s mother during a parent-teacher meeting, the harassment allegedly continued.

An FIR filed by the victim’s family on February 1 states that the accused persisted with obscene behaviour and intimidation over the years. Following the attack, the woman was initially taken to the district hospital and later referred to Saifai Medical College. She was eventually shifted to a private hospital in Agra after specialised surgical care was unavailable.

Police said the accused remains absconding and raids are being carried out at multiple locations to trace him. Officials have assured that efforts are underway to arrest him at the earliest and bring him to justice.
