Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has alleged that the BJP facilitated an attack against her during a public meeting in her own parliamentary constituency in West Bengal.

Moitra said she was targeted with eggs and stones while addressing the gathering. Sharing a video of the incident on X, the TMC MP stated that she was injured in the attack. The visuals reportedly show people in the crowd throwing eggs at the windows of the building from which she was speaking and shouting slogans.

“Police stood by as spectators while BJP goons attacked me. I sustained serious injuries in the attack,” Mahua Moitra wrote in her post.

She further alleged that law and order in the state had deteriorated since the BJP government came to power and accused the police of remaining silent and acting as passive observers.

In a message sent to West Bengal Director General of Police Siddh Nath Gupta, Moitra alleged that officers present at the venue made no effort to disperse the crowd. She claimed that despite personally contacting the DGP and sharing her location, the police failed to act and instead sided with the attackers. She urged the DGP to intervene immediately to restore law and order and disperse the crowd.
