16-Year-Old Student Found Dead in Lucknow Hostel; Police Probe Suspicious Circumstances

Lucknow: A 16-year-old girl was found hanging in her hostel room at a private educational institution in Lucknow, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The incident occurred at a hostel in the Srijan Vihar Colony area of Lucknow. Authorities have described the case as suspicious and are examining all possible angles.

The matter came to light after family members allegedly attempted to transport the body to Haridwar for funeral rites without informing the police. The girl had been staying at a hostel owned by Dr. Sushil Trivedi. Her father reportedly worked as a driver for the doctor.

According to preliminary information, the student was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room at around 7.30 pm. Hostel authorities allegedly brought the body down and informed her father, but the incident was not immediately reported to the police.

Police became aware of the case when information was received about an attempt to move the body under unusual circumstances. Officers from Gomti Nagar Police Station intervened and took custody of the body.

A forensic team inspected the room and collected evidence. Investigators also recovered a note containing the words, “I am ending it.” Police believe it may be a suicide note, although its authenticity and relevance are still being examined.

Given the suspicious circumstances, Dr. Sushil Trivedi has been taken into custody for questioning. The girl's father is also expected to be questioned as part of the investigation.

Police officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination report is received. Investigators said they are conducting a detailed inquiry and have not ruled out any possibility at this stage.
