Jag Vasant Reaches Gujarat; Safely Passes Through Strait of Hormuz Under Navy's Protection

Gandhinagar: Due to the intensifying war in the Middle East, the Indian LPG ship Jag Vasant, which was stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, has safely reached Gujarat. The ship, carrying approximately 47,600 metric tons of LPG, arrived early on Friday morning at the Kandla port in Gujarat.

Following the Iran-Israel conflict, the Strait of Hormuz was nearly completely closed off. Jag Vasant was one of 22 Indian ships stranded in the region. The ship successfully navigated out of the danger zone with the assistance of an escort by Indian Navy ships.

Satellite images reveal that the ship traveled through a specific route near the Iranian coast. With concerns about a potential LPG shortage in the country, Jag Vasant’s arrival has provided significant relief.

In addition to this ship, another vessel named Pine Gas carrying 45,000 tons of LPG is expected to reach the Mangaluru port in the coming days. The gas brought by these two ships will be equivalent to India's total daily requirement.

To ensure the safe passage of Indian vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar held continuous discussions with Iranian authorities. It is the outcome of these talks that allowed the ships to reach India safely despite the complex wartime situation.

Currently, 20 other Indian ships remain stranded in the Gulf region, and efforts are ongoing to bring them safely to India, as confirmed by the Ministry of Shipping
