New Delhi: Indian Railways has issued an advisory urging passengers to refrain from using mobile phones, tablets, and laptops in a manner that disturbs fellow travellers. The advisory, posted on the railway's official Facebook page, requests passengers to use headphones while consuming audio or video content on trains, reminding them that their journey should not become a source of inconvenience to others.

The directive comes in response to a rising number of complaints about loud phone calls and media playback without headphones in train compartments. Railways has noted that such behaviour causes significant discomfort to co-passengers, particularly on long-distance journeys.

Strict rules are already in place for night travel, including a ban on lights after 10 pm to ensure passengers can rest undisturbed. Railway staff have been empowered to intervene when passengers lodge complaints about disruptive behaviour, and repeated violations will invite stringent action.
