New Delhi: Opposition, youth and student organisations have said they will not withdraw from their protest until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns. The organisations will stage protests at Jantar Mantar for the fourth consecutive day. Police had forcibly removed those who participated in the protest yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear today the petitions filed against Gyanesh Kumar. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant will consider the petitions.

The petitions allege that Gyanesh Kumar took decisions unilaterally without considering the views of the other two Election Commissioners.

The petitioners have sought prosecution proceedings against Gyanesh Kumar, cancellation of the SIR decisions and an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the deletion of names from the electoral rolls. Shailendra Mani Tripathi and Rakesh Kumar Singh are the petitioners.
