Ahmedabad: Gujarat Police have registered a case against 21 farmers who protested by burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. The farmers had staged the protest at Jetpara in Gujarat's Morbi district against the installation of high-tension electricity transmission lines by Adani Energy Solutions Limited.


The farmers burned effigies of Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as part of the protest. Police have registered a case against them under charges including criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and causing obstruction to traffic.


Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police have also registered cases against 15 people who protested over unemployment in the state. The protesters have been booked under various charges, including rioting.
