Goa Nightclub Fire Death Toll Rises to 25; Centre Announces Compensation

Panaji: The death toll from the massive fire at a night club in Goa has gone upto 25. The incident occurred late last night at a club in Anpora, North Goa. Initial reports indicate that the blaze was triggered by the explosion of a gas cylinder.


Most of the victims are believed to be staff members who worked at the nightclub. Fire and rescue services rushed to the scene immediately and began rescue operations. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, and authorities have confirmed that none of them are in critical condition.


Among the deceased are three women. Four of the victims were tourists, according to police. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that three people died from burn injuries, while the rest suffocated due to smoke inhalation. He also revealed that preliminary information suggests the nightclub did not comply with fire safety regulations.





The fire broke out at Birch by Romeo Lane, located in Arpora village, approximately 25 km from the state capital Panaji. The Chief Minister assured that strict action will be taken against the club management.


Meanwhile, the central government has announced financial assistance for those killed and injured in the massive fire at a nightclub in Goa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the families of the deceased would receive 2 lakh rupees each, while the injured would be given 50,000 rupees each.
