Dharamshala: New allegations have emerged in the case of a girl who died after being subjected to sexual harassment and ragging on a college campus in Himachal Pradesh. A video has surfaced in which the girl claims that a teacher repeatedly sexually abused her. The 19-year-old student of a government college in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, died on December 26 while undergoing treatment for sexual harassment, ragging, and physical assault.

Based on a complaint from the girl’s father, a case was registered on Thursday. The complaint states that on September 18, 2025, senior students Harshita, Aakruti, and Komolika attacked, beat, and threatened the girl, warning her not to disclose the incident. The girl also revealed that Ashok Kumar, a professor at the college, sexually assaulted her.

Following the harassment and assault, the girl and her family sought treatment at multiple hospitals. She was eventually transferred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC) in Ludhiana for specialized care, where she died during treatment. The girl had suffered severe psychological trauma due to the attacks, her father said.

Police stated that ragging charges have been filed against the three students under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 2009. A case of sexual assault has also been registered against the professor.
