Red Alert in Delhi as Heavy Rain Continues; 16 Flights Cancelled, Several Delayed

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain with thunderstorms is likely to continue in the Delhi-NCR region. Delhi remains under a red alert today, while yellow alerts have been declared for Gurugram and Faridabad. Rain is forecast for Noida as well, though no formal alert has been issued there.

Widespread waterlogging following days of heavy downpour has disrupted traffic across Delhi. Flight operations have also been severely affected. According to reports, 16 flights from Indira Gandhi International Airport have been cancelled due to adverse weather, with 90 others running late. On Monday, 26 flights were cancelled, 15 diverted to other airports and over 390 services delayed.

Several monitoring stations in Delhi recorded above-normal rainfall, with Safdarjung registering 246.2 mm of rain. Severe waterlogging was reported in Delhi's Lutyens, Mathura Road, Connaught Place, Bhairon Marg, ITO and the Sarai Kale Khan underpass.
