Delhi HC Proposes Shifting Sonam Wangchuk to Hospital of His Choice

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday proposed shifting activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital while ensuring continuity of his medical treatment.
Hearing an appeal filed by Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, a bench comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia said all medical records and reports available with Safdarjung Hospital would be shared with Medanta following the transfer.
The court also said it would direct the director of Medanta Hospital to constitute a panel of doctors to supervise Wangchuk's treatment after he is shifted.
"What we propose to do is, let him be shifted to a hospital of his choice. He will be treated by Medanta and all the reports etc. which have been done at Safdarjung will be supplied to Medanta, and he will be treated there by a panel of doctors to be formed by Medanta. We will pass the order after lunch," the bench observed during the hearing.
The proposal came in response to a plea filed by Angmo seeking Wangchuk's transfer to another hospital. She also thanked the Delhi high court for ordering the activist's discharge from Safdarjung Hospital and shifting to Medanta Hospital.
