Delhi Records 50-Year High Temperature Amid Heatwave

New Delhi: The Delhi is experiencing a heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a 50-year high. The Safdarjung Observatory recorded 35.7°C on Saturday, the highest temperature recorded in the first week of March in five decades, according to the India Meteorological Department. This reading is 7.3 degrees above normal.

The previous record was 34.8°C, recorded on March 5, 1999. Rising temperatures are not limited to Delhi; northern states such as Haryana and Uttarakhand are also seeing above-normal heat. Hisar in Haryana recorded 36.3°C, while Dehradun in Uttarakhand experienced temperatures 5–6 degrees above normal.

Experts have warned that the heat is likely to persist and may increase in the coming days, urging residents to take precautions against the unusually high temperatures.
