CPI(M) candidates for five constituencies in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections
Chennai: CPI(M) has announced its candidates for five constituencies in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, fielding a mix of sitting MLAs and prominent organisational leaders.
In Gandharvakottai, sitting MLA M Chinnadurai has been fielded for another term. In Keezhvelur, D Latha — a two-term veteran who also serves as the Nagapattinam District Secretary of the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) — will contest once again. The Kanyakumari District Secretary R Chellasamy will seek a mandate from Padmanabhapuram.
In Palani, N Pandi — a member of the State Secretariat and a leader of the Kisan Sabha — has been named the candidate. In Thiruvottiyur, CITU leader and State Committee member L Sundarrajan will enter the electoral fray. Sundarrajan's political journey is one of grassroots conviction — he began his working life as a contract labourer before rising through the ranks of the trade union movement to become a prominent voice for workers' rights.
