New Delhi: The central government has issued a notice asking the AICC headquarters and the Youth Congress office in Delhi to vacate their buildings. The Congress headquarters on Akbar Road and the Youth Congress office on Raisina Road are required to vacate by March 28, according to the central directive. The building on Akbar Road has been functioning as the AICC headquarters for the past 48 years (since 1978). Although the Congress inaugurated a new headquarters, Indira Bhavan, on Kotla Marg last year, operations were not fully shifted there. It is in this context that the central government has issued the notice to vacate the premises.

The central government had allocated land to national parties for building their headquarters. While many other parties built new structures and fully shifted their operations there, the Congress continued to operate from the old building. However, the Congress leadership has alleged that the central government's move is politically motivated. They claim that this is an attempt to trouble opposition parties, and the party is preparing to take legal action to resolve the issue.
