CBSE Portal for Re-evaluation Fails Again Amid Security and Evaluation Controversies

New Delhi: Students preparing to apply for revaluation of their CBSE Class 12 results have been dealt a fresh blow, with the board's portal breaking down. Despite CBSE's assurance that re-evaluation applications could be submitted from today, the website has remained non-functional. Complaints had already been mounting over technical glitches, inability to access the portal, and alleged overcharging of fees. Of the 17 lakh students who appeared for the examination, as many as four lakh have come forward with grievances.

The latest failure comes against the backdrop of a serious security lapse that has already embarrassed the board. A 19-year-old software engineer named Nisarg had exposed on X that CBSE's answer sheets — stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud storage — were left completely unprotected, without password restrictions, making them accessible to anyone with an internet connection. He also shared images of the answer sheets as evidence. CBSE subsequently admitted to the lapse. Earlier, widespread complaints had also emerged about answer sheets going missing entirely.

Students who raised concerns about CBSE's evaluation irregularities had been subjected to a vicious hate campaign by Sangh Parivar-linked accounts, with students being falsely labelled and targeted online.

With the portal still down and re-evaluation access effectively blocked, the futures of lakhs of students hang in the balance.
