BJP Announces New National Office-Bearers; Surendran, Anil Antony Named BJP National Secretaries, No Key Positions for Leaders From Keralam

New Delhi: The BJP has announced its new national office-bearers, but none of the positions sought by the party’s leaders from Keralam have been granted. Former state president K Surendran and Anil Antony have been appointed national secretaries, while former national vice-president A P Abdullakkutty has lost his position.
The decision has triggered strong resentment among the leaders over the failure to consider leaders from the state for other key positions. Surendran had also failed to secure the promotion he had sought within the party after losing the BJP state president’s post.
The list of 13 national vice-presidents, including Vasundhara Raje, and other office-bearers was released on Monday. Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed one of the national general secretaries.
The new list includes eight national general secretaries. Piyush Goyal has been appointed treasurer.
