Vice President Election: Opposition Parties Names B Sudarshan Reddy as Candidate

New Delhi: The Opposition Parties has announced its candidate for the Vice President election. Former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy has been chosen as the opposition front’s candidate. The announcement was made by Mallikarjun Kharge after the discussions held in Delhi. He is also a former judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
C P Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Maharashtra and former Tamil Nadu BJP president, is the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate. The decision was taken at the BJP parliamentary meeting held the previous day.
The last date to file nomination papers for the Vice Presidential election is August 21. The election will be held on September 9. The election became necessary following the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21 due to health reasons. Dhankhar resigned two years into his term.
