New Delhi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged misappropriation of donations received at the Ayodhya Ram Temple is likely to submit an interim report before the Supreme Court on Monday. The investigation is also expected to widen, with more people likely to come under its scanner.

According to sources, the probe, which had slowed after the arrest of eight people, has now been expanded to include those involved in the temple's day-to-day operations.

Around 50 people have reportedly been engaged in counting and accounting for donations received by the temple. A majority of them are believed to have been appointed based on recommendations from trust functionaries and their close associates.

SIT sources said CCTV footage has been collected, allegedly establishing the involvement of six of the eight arrested individuals. Investigators are also examining the suspects' backgrounds as well as their financial transactions after joining duty.

The investigation is also likely to focus on certain senior trust officials. According to senior sources, the SIT plans to scrutinise financial transactions linked to temple construction and other related activities as part of the ongoing investigation.
