Woman's Suicide: Youth Congress State Secretary Taken Into Custody in Kerala

Pathanamthitta: Youth Congress State Secretary Suhail Ansari has been formally arrested in connection with the suicide of a 35-year-old woman in Kadambanad, police said on Wednesday.

Suhail, a native of Poruvazhy in Kollam district, was taken into custody by the Enathu police and his arrest has now been recorded. He will be produced before the court after completion of the legal procedures.

The woman was found hanging at her husband’s house in Kadambanad on February 14. A suicide note recovered after the incident reportedly named Suhail as the reason for her decision.

Police said both were working at the same school. The woman was an office staff member, while Suhail was serving as the school’s PRO. According to the contents of the note recovered by investigators, Suhail allegedly demanded a physical relationship and asked her to send private photographs. The note stated that she was deeply distressed by these actions.

Police said the suicide note is a crucial piece of evidence in the case. The investigation is continuing.
