Bodies of Young Couple Found in Hotel Room in Kottayam

Kottayam: A young man and woman were found dead, hanging inside a hotel room in Kottayam. The deceased have been identified as Nandakumar (22), a native of Puthuppally, and Tasni (20) from Kudayampady, Mariyathuruth.

The bodies were discovered in Nisha Continental hotel on Shastri Road.

According to reports, the couple had checked into the room on Thursday evening. When they were not seen leaving the room even by Friday evening, hotel staff alerted the Kottayam West Police. A police team led by West Station House Officer M J Arun arrived at the scene. Later, both were found hanging from a ceiling fan.

Meanwhile, Tasni’s family had filed a missing person complaint with the Gandhinagar Police on Friday morning. The bodies were found while the investigation into the complaint was ongoing.

Police said the two were in a romantic relationship and had died by suicide as their families did not consent to their marriage. This was revealed in a suicide note recovered from the room.

After the inquest on Saturday morning, the bodies will be shifted to the Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the relatives.
