Alappuzha: Amid a sea of grieving faces and rising slogans that echoed through the streets, former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan was brought home to Velikkakath House in Paravur. Thousands stood in silence and sorrow, waiting with heavy hearts to bid farewell to the leader who had walked beside them for decades.

As the cortege moved through Alappuzha, people lined the roads, many with tears in their eyes, raising their fists one last time in salute. The mortal remains of the CPI M stalwart reached his ancestral home at 12:20 pm, marking a moment deeply etched in the hearts of his people.

His body was kept at the CPI M Alappuzha District Office in Pazhaveedu, where party workers gathered to pay their respects. His mortal remains were later brought to the Recreation Ground in Alappuzha for public viewing.
