Congress in Trouble; V. M. Vinu Has No Vote Even in the 2020 Voter List

Kozhikode: The Congress allegations that UDF’s Kozhikode Corporation mayoral candidate V. M. Vinu’s vote was removed is falling apart. V. M. Vinu’s name is not present even in the 2020 voters’ list of the Malaparamba division. However, he told the media that both he and his wife had voted in the last election. Vinu resides in the 4th booth area of the Malaparamba ward.
The fact that UDF candidate and film director V. M. Vinu, who is contesting from the Kallayi division, did not have his name in the voters’ list became big news. It was during the scrutiny of nomination papers that it was discovered that his name was missing from the list. Meanwhile, the Congress’ decision to field Vinu without verifying the voters’ list has turned into a major embarrassment. There is also protest within the Congress against the leadership.
The leadership will also have to answer why Congress workers failed to make use of two opportunities available to locate and add Vinu’s vote if his name was missing from the list. The Congress leadership introduced Vinu just yesterday with much fanfare as their mayoral candidate.
