V.D. Satheeshan's Nomination Held Back Amidst Asset Disclosure Allegations

Kochi: The returning officers have temporarily postponed the scrutiny of opposition leader V.D. Satheeshan's nomination following a complaint that he had concealed his assets. The action was taken after a complaint was raised by opposing candidates. LDF candidate from Peravur, Tyson Master, filed the complaint against V.D. Satheeshan's nomination. The complaint mainly alleges discrepancies such as the incorrect declaration of the value of gold held and failure to properly disclose the source of income. There is also a complaint stating that a traffic penalty incurred on the official vehicle has not been paid. Although Satheeshan is stated to be a lawyer, his income from this profession has not been included in the affidavit. The complaint also claims that the exact amount of benefits received as Leader of the Opposition has not been recorded.
Meanwhile, the scrutiny of Nemom candidate and BJP state president Rajiv Chandrasekhar's nomination has also been postponed. The action of the returning officer follows allegations that asset details were not fully disclosed in the affidavit submitted along with the nomination papers.
