Thalassery: Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan on Monday avoided giving a direct reply to questions on who facilitated the visit of gold theft accused Unnikrishnan Potty and Govardhan, the person who bought the stolen gold, to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s residence. When asked about boycott of the Assembly session proceedings over the Sabarimala gold theft, Satheesan said permission had not been granted to raise the matter during the Assembly session.

Meanwhile, Satheesan came out in defence of UDF convener Adoor Prakash MP, who was questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the case. He said there was no objection to the SIT questioning Adoor Prakash and added that the investigation agency can record his statement as many times as required.

Addressing a press conference, Satheesan also said that the photograph showing Adoor Prakash with Unnikrishnan Potty was taken before it became known that Potty was involved in the gold theft. He maintained that there was no wrongdoing on the part of the UDF leadership.
