Thiruvananthapuram: V Sivankutty, LDF candidate in Nemom, has stated that the participation of Aghoris in campaigning for BJP candidate amounts to a violation of election rules.

He stated that while no one objects to Aghoris performing their religious rituals, the Constitution clearly mandates that religion should not interfere in politics. Sivankutty claimed that individuals associated with Aghori practices even took part in BJP election-related activities in Thiruvananthapuram, calling it a breach of the Model Code of Conduct.

He added that such campaigning has created concern among the public, with fears that they might even approach homes seeking votes. According to him, bringing Aghoris from Uttar Pradesh is an unfamiliar and potentially divisive tactic in Kerala.

Sivankutty also accused BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar of spending crores on the campaign and added that over a hundred vehicles have been brought in from other states. He demanded that the RTO conduct inspections into these vehicles.
