Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Minister V Sivankutty has said that the reports emerging from the KPCC camp are proof of how far removed the Congress leadership in Kerala is from ground realities. He said the UDF has degenerated from being a political front into a mere “PR front.”

Even the election strategists brought in at great expense have been forced to admit that there is no anti-incumbency sentiment against the Left government in Kerala. However, Congress leaders, unwilling to accept this reality, are allegedly tampering with agency reports to cover up their own failures.

When their own agency acknowledges the absence of anti-incumbency in the local body election results, it amounts to an indirect endorsement of the LDF government’s development and welfare initiatives, Sivankutty said. He added that even paid consultants have recognised the LDF government’s popular base and effectiveness, but opposition leaders alone seem unable to grasp this.

The UDF, he alleged, trusts PR agencies rather than the people. “How can those who fear honest reports face the public?” he asked, accusing the Congress leadership of misleading its cadres by trying to convince itself that there is anti-incumbency.

Sivankutty said the Congress is under the illusion that a manufactured wave can be created through PR agencies, while the LDF continues to work among the people. Those who are unable to identify flaws within their own camp cannot lead the state, he added, noting that developments within the Congress camp clearly demonstrate this reality.
