Thrissur: The parents, an unmarried couple, have been arrested in connection with the killing and burial of their newborn babies in Puthukkad. The accused confessed to killing both infants. Puthukkad police arrested Bhavin (25) of Chenakkal, Amballur, and Aneesha (22) of Mullakkapparambil, Nooluvally, Mattathur. Their arrests were recorded after 12 hours of interrogation.
They have been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. The first baby was killed in 2021, and the second in 2024. Initially, the woman claimed that both babies had died during childbirth. However, police had suspected from the beginning that the deaths were unnatural.
Later, Aneesha admitted that only the first baby had died naturally, and the second was killed. But now, both parents have confessed to killing both children.
The case came to light following a dispute between Bhavin and Aneesha. In the early hours of Sunday, Bhavin arrived at the Puthukkad police station in Thrissur with the bones of the babies. He told police that his partner Aneesha had given birth to the babies, and that they had killed and buried them.
Bhavin revealed that he had preserved the babies' remains to use in rituals. The conflict reportedly began when Aneesha tried to withdraw from the relationship, leading to a quarrel between the two. Following this, Bhavin went to the police and made the confession.
