KSU Leader Among Four Arrested in Online Fraud Case

Thrissur: Erumapetti police have arrested four people, including a KSU mandalam general secretary, in connection with an online fraud case. The Cyber Hunt investigation team arrested the four, who were operating as links in a network that opened bank accounts and conducted transactions worth lakhs of rupees in exchange for commissions.


Those arrested are KSU Kunnamkulam constituency general secretary Haneen Rahman (19), Irfan (19), Mohammed Shafeer (20), and Shamnath. Police found that a major hawala lobby was operating behind them.


Investigators found that the accused had used the Aadhaar and PAN cards of young people to open bank accounts, through which transactions worth around Rs 15.5 lakh were conducted and withdrawn. Around Rs 4,000 was paid back to the account holders via Google Pay. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the involvement of the online cyber fraud mafia. The accused have been remanded. The arrests were made by a team led by Erumapetti SI Anto Francis.
