Three Arrested for Sharing Defamatory Video in Actress Assault Case

Thrissur (Kerala): Three individuals have been arrested for allegedly sharing a video on social media that defamed the survivor in the 2017 actress assault case, police said on Monday.

Thrissur Cyber Police registered a case after the circulation of a video released by Martin Antony, the second accused in the case, in which actor Dileep was acquitted by the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court.

Police said Antony had originally released the video on social media before his conviction, making allegations against the complainant. Following the court’s verdict, the video resurfaced and spread widely, prompting a fresh investigation.

As part of the probe, police arrested three individuals from Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha districts for allegedly sharing the video with multiple others. Authorities are examining whether the circulation involved any monetary gain.

Over 100 links sharing the video have been removed from various social media platforms, police said. Officials are also gathering details of others involved, and further arrests are expected.
