Thiruvananthapuram: The country's longest smart road is located in the state – the 3.275 km CV Raman Pillar Road, which stretches from Aalthara to Chenthitta. Kerala achieved this milestone by surpassing the three-kilometer Golden Mile Road in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

The four-lane road was built under the leadership of the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) as part of the Smart City project initiated by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation during the LDF administration. The construction cost amounted to Rs 77 crore, with financial assistance from the central government. The project was carried out by the Uralungal Labour Co-operative Society.

Twelve city streets were upgraded to world-class standards as part of this initiative. A project that had been stalled for years was completed with the intervention of the LDF government. This is the answer to those who questioned whether local roads could be built to the same standards as national highways.

Electricity, telephone, internet, private cable lines, drinking water pipes, and drainage pipes are all integrated beneath the road. Additionally, there are special chambers for road repairs without the need to cut through the surface. The road also includes separate lanes for cyclists and walkways for the visually impaired.
