Supplyco, Consumerfed Launch Christmas–New Year Fairs Across Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: To mark the Christmas and New Year season, Supplyco and Consumerfed will organise special festive fairs across Kerala, offering essential commodities at subsidised and discounted rates.

The state-level inauguration of the Supplyco Christmas–New Year fair was held at 10 am on Monday at Putharikandam Nayanar Park here, with Food Minister G R Anil inaugurating the event. The cooperative fair organised by Consumerfed will be inaugurated at 5 pm at Ettumanoor in Kottayam by Cooperation Minister V N Vasavan. The Supplyco fairs will remain open until December 31.

Special Supplyco fairs will be held at Putharikandam Maidan in Thiruvananthapuram, Asramam Maidan in Kollam, Rose Mount Auditorium in Pathanamthitta, Thirunakkara Maidan in Kottayam, Marine Drive in Ernakulam and Thekkinkadu Maidan in Thrissur. In addition, one major Supplyco outlet in every taluk across the state will host a festive fair.

More than 280 products are being sold with special offers. Branded essential goods carry discounts ranging from five to 50 per cent. Rice is available at a subsidised rate of 20 kg for 25 rupees, along with several other festive offers.

Consumerfed will conduct special fairs at one Triveni Supermarket in each district. Thirteen essential items — including Jaya rice, Kuruvai rice, Matta rice, raw rice, sugar, black gram, green gram, Bengal gram, pigeon pea, cowpea, chilli, coriander and coconut oil — will be sold at prices 30 to 50 per cent lower than market rates with government subsidy.

Products manufactured by various cooperative institutions will also be available at discounted prices. Non-subsidised items will be sold with discounts ranging from 10 to 40 per cent. Triveni-branded products directly marketed by Consumerfed, including tea, atta, maida, rava, rice flour and spice powders, will also be offered at reduced prices. Similar discounts will be available at other Triveni outlets. The Consumerfed fairs will continue until January 1.
