Sunny Joseph Says Decision on Rahul Mamkootathil's Candidacy Lies with High Command

Thiruvananthapuram: Sunny Joseph, President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said he will consider whether to field Rahul Mamkootathil as a candidate in the upcoming assembly elections, emphasizing that the final decision rests with the Congress high command. He added that he will decide later on Rahul’s eligibility to contest.
The comments come after V K Sreekandan, Member of Parliament from Palakkad, met Rahul at a private hotel in Adoor. Rahul Mamkootathil was expelled from the Congress following allegations of sexual harassment and forced abortion. Sreekandan is reportedly the first Congress leader to meet him directly after his expulsion from Congress.
Sreekandan, who has previously expressed support for Rahul, told the media that the meeting was unplanned and had no other purpose. He is also a prominent participant in the Puthu Yuga Yatra, led by opposition leaders in the state.
The issue is expected to be discussed further within the party before any formal announcement regarding candidacy is made.
