Minister Sivankutty Slams UDF Convener Adoor Prakash for Mocking Govt’s Appeal in Actress Attack Case Verdict, Calls Remarks Misogynistic

Thiruvananthapuram: UDF convener and Member of Parliament Adoor Prakash’s remarks mocking the government’s decision to file an appeal in the actress assault case are highly condemnable, said Minister for General Education and Labour V Sivankutty. He stated that while the government stands firmly with the survivor in her fight for justice, the UDF has taken a stance that attempts to undermine this effort.
The government has clearly stated that it will appeal the court verdict. However, by asking “Doesn’t the government have any other work?”, the UDF convener has made it evident whose side he is on, Sivankutty said. Considering a woman’s struggle for justice as “idleness” is an attitude unworthy of a civilized society, he added.
This statement once again proves that the UDF is not with the survivor. The UDF’s double standards—claiming to support the victim while secretly aiding the perpetrators—have been exposed, the minister said.
The government is committed to ensuring that the culprits in the actress assault case do not escape punishment and that the survivor gets justice. By trivializing and mocking this legal battle, the UDF and its convener have insulted every woman in the state, Sivankutty said.
Those who claim to champion women’s safety have revealed their true colors through Adoor Prakash’s words. The minister demanded that the UDF leadership withdraw the misogynistic statement and apologize to the public, especially to the women of Kerala.
