CCTV Footage Emerges in Thiruvananthapuram Youth Murder; Two taken into Custody

Thiruvananthapuram: Crucial CCTV footage has surfaced in the murder of 18-year-old Shivasurya of Kaakamala, son of Suresh Kumar of Vedivechahamkovil, Thiruvananthapuram, who died on Saturday night. The footage shows the accused carrying the injured youth away on a motorcycle after the confrontation.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm on Saturday outside a textile shop near the Punnamood Social Welfare Cooperative Society. A group of youths on motorcycles clashed on the road, during which two individuals held and pushed Shivasurya. He fell and struck a large glass panel installed in front of the shop, which shattered — a shard piercing his chest. The accused attempted to lift him but were unable to, before placing him on a motorcycle and taking him to hospital. He was rushed to Medical College Hospital but could not be saved.
The confrontation is traced to a dispute that broke out a year ago at a football turf in Neyyattinkara between two groups. Though reportedly resolved at the time, the enmity persisted and eventually led to Saturday's fatal clash.
Naruvamoodu police have taken Ajith and Karthik — suspected to be the accused — into custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
